A Case of Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia and Periodic Pure Red Cell Aplasia Associated With Systemin Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract

|
We presented here a patient of systemic lupus erythematosus associated with
autoimmune hemolytic anemia and periodic change of pure red cell aplasia.
This 22 year old female was admitted to Severance hospital because of headache and
nausea for 3 weeks. In serial peripheral blood and bone marrow study, pure red cell
anemia and autoimmune hemolytic anemia were complicated periodically with systemic
lupus erythematosus. The cause of periodic hematologic change was not confirmed and
serum IgG might influence even to the red cell precursors of the bone marrow in this
case.
To our knowledge, this is the first report of systemic lupus erythematosus associated
with autoimmune hemolytic anemia and periodic change of pure red cell aplasia in
Korea.
